Fourth SCALO edition (second American hardcover edition) of The Americans with photographs by Robert Frank with introduction by Jack Kerouac (SCALO Publishers, 2000). Collection of photographs taken by the Swiss-American photographer, showcasing the seedy underbelly of American life in the mid 1950s. A traditional photography book. Jacket protected in new archival sleeve but with mild rubbing to faces and slight shelf wear around the edges - including some chipping and small tears, incredibly notably to top edge of front cover. Faint liquid damage to top edge of back cover, mostly visible only on reverse side. Boards are straight and clean but with corners slightly bumped. Binding material is faintly visible in a few gutters though spine is straight and binding remains fairly firm on the whole. All pages clean and unmarked. See photos for condition.
