Winged Isis Devotional Statue
This exquisite statue depicts Isis, the terrific Mother Goddess of ancient Egypt, known for her healing and magical powers. Known as Aset in Egyptian, her name means Queen of the Throne, reflected in her throne-like headdress. Isis aided the dead in their afterlife journey and was invoked in healing spells. Her wings symbolize falcons or kites, birds of prey. This reproduction, carved from basalt and now housed in the Cairo Museum, measures 7 1/2 x 6 1/4, with a black stone finish. Made from resin and Ganges River clay. Note: Small break on the left wing, circled in yellow in photos.
